Sugar Cookies

1 lb butter
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 Tbsp. vanilla
Beat until light and fluffy

In separate bowl mix

5 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder

Alternate adding flour mix and

1/2 cup milk

to the butter sugar mixture. Sometimes I need extra flour because the dough can be too soft. Divide dough into 3 or 4 parts and chill. I like to roll disks between two sheets of parchment or waxed paper. Cold dough is much easier to work with.
Roll out, cut shapes and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. I don't allow mine to brown so they come out a lovely pale color.
